About Me

My name is Fernando Saldivia Yáñez. I am a filmmaker currently based between Puerto Williams, Chile, and Chicago, United States.
My practice focuses on using poetic documentary films to portray individuals, communities, and traditions facing a context of climate change, industrialization, and neoliberal policies.
My work has been screened at multiple festivals and venues including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and the Santiago International Film Festival.
Currently, I am working on a film portrait that depicts the daily life of a Mapuche couple in their ancestral territory, the Wallmapu.
