About Me

My name is Fernando Saldivia Yáñez. I am a filmmaker currently based between Puerto Williams, Chile, and Chicago, United States.

My practice focuses on using poetic documentary films to portray individuals, communities, and traditions facing a context of climate change, industrialization, and neoliberal policies.

My work has been screened at multiple festivals and venues including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, the Santiago International Film Festival, and the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.

My latest feature film, Brief Space of a Time, was recently awarded the Vox Populi Audience Award at the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
