About Me

Hi, My name is Fernando Saldivia Yáñez.

I am a filmmaker based in Puerto Williams, Chile (The southernmost town in the world!)

My practice focuses on using poetic documentary films to portray subjects threatened by global change such as wildlife and local artisan traditions.

My first film release, The Roots Weaver, has been screened at multiple venues including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Lebu International Film Festival, and Chiloe International Film Festival.

Currently, I am working on a film portrait that depicts particular social, cultural, and environmental aspects of my hometown.
